ITAC 2021



ITAC 2021 aims to provide something for everyone, from basic hints and techniques, with presentations from expert speakers covering the theme and dealing with the broader business and strategic issues facing an industry grappling with the uptake of technology.

The ITAC 2021 theme Transforming Independence through Innovative Technology incorporates the following information streams:

Aged Care & Disabilities Royal Commissions and their impact on technology deployment
How has the RC impacted your use of technology?
Assistive home technologies
How does your organisation use assistive home technologies? What benefits do you see in the use of assistive home technologies? What advances do you see in assistive home technologies?
Care recipient independence through technology support
How has technology effected care recipient independence in your organisation. What ethical, clinical or practical issues has it raised?
Cyber security
How does your organisation manage cyber security? What has been your experience with cyber security? What new advances do you see for cyber security?

Is the use of CCTV critical in service industries and if so, what are the privacy implications?
Does your organisation use CCTV or considering its use? if so to what purpose? Who owns the IP? How are you protecting privacy? 
Responding to a Crisis through Innovation 
How has your organisation responded to recent crises through the use of innovation? How was it developed, implemented, and evaluated? What did you learn?
Reviewing the potential role of block chain in health care care systems 
How does your organisation use blockchain? What areas of care can blockchain help improve? What future advances do you see in blockchain use in care?
Role of digital assistants in the care systems of the future
How does your organisation use digital assistants in care? What future models of care can can use digital assistants, and how do we evaluate them?
Telehealth in aged care
How does your organisation use telehealth in aged care? Has telehealth benefited aged care, and how? What future advances do you see in telehealth in aged care?
Use of big data across care service models 
Can the use of big data across care improve quality, safety and efficiency of care? Are there examples of this in your organisation? What advances do you see in care through big data? 

The ITAC 2021 Organising Committee invites prospective participants to submit abstracts relating to the listed topics.

Authors of abstracts selected for presentation must register and pay to attend ITAC 2021. A discounted presenter rate of $770 will be available to all concurrent speakers. Support for travel and accommodation is not available.


The purpose of the abstract is to define the precise subject of the presentation for potential inclusion into the ITAC 2021 concurrent streams within the program. Acknowledgements, figures and referencing should not be included. Names of all co-presenters and/or co-authors along with their affiliations and contact details must be submitted with the abstract.

There are only eight (8) spaces open for concurrent presentations to be included in the program. With this in mind please ensure your submission adheres to the below guidelines and clearly defines the presentation subject matter. All papers must be of a scientific nature. Any submissions which are clearly outlining a product will not be accepted.


The ITAC Organising Committee require that any applications which are shortlisted for the program provide a short video (3 minutes maximum), featuring the service or solution being demonstrated. Video direct to a smart phone will be quite sufficient.

  • Abstract must be received via the online submission portal only. Submission via email will not be accepted.
  • Abstract to contain no more than 500 words
  • Abstract must contain name and title of presenter(s)
  • Presenters must register to attend ITAC. A special presenter rate of $770 will be offered to all presenters.


The paper must be presented by the specified presenting author(s). Proxies will not be permitted except in an emergency such as illness or misadventure. Notification must be received in writing of any additional presenters by 4th January 2021. Registration is a condition of accepting the offer to present. All presenters must register and pay by 29th January 2021 to obtain the discounted Abstract Speaker Registration rate of $770.00 including GST. Presenters are responsible for their own accommodation expenses and travel to and from ITAC. The submitting author must be the presenting author and will be the main contact for any correspondence about the presentation. All abstracts must be submitted electronically via the online submission process. Emailed submissions will not be accepted.
